A week ago, I said I'd bring you BA's first big-budget item of the season--a sequel to their 2013 hit, "Scandal in the Vatican." The first installment (which I'm posting in full) centers on Brother Massimo (BA headliner, Joel Birkin)--first seen at his morning devotions, and later, entertaining some young tourists (the Kinky Angels) in a borrowed flat. His one-on-one encounter with Kevin Warhol, barely begun here, will no doubt open the next chapter. (My one quibble so far is
not theological, but musical: putting the popular
Neapolitan song "Funiculì, Funiculà" on the soundtrack is stereotypical, naive, and ill-suited to the matter at hand--unless of course they were thinking of Annette Funicello's 1960s version of the tune--"Dream Boy.")
